Sister Wetland Affiliation Programme
Exchange Visit in Hong Kong: 25 ˇV 28 November 2008
25 November 2008, Hong Kong Wetland Park ˇV A group of 50 students and teachers from 6 schools in Hong Kong and Singapore came to share their experience on wetland conservation in Hong Kong Wetland Park. The schools from Singapore include Pei Cai Secondary School, River Valley High School, and Raffles Institution; while the Hong Kong school include Immaculate Heart of Mary College, St. Paulˇ¦s Co-educational College, and Queen Elizabeth School Old Student Association Secondary School. This is an important part of the Sister Wetland Affiliation Programme jointly organised by Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve of National Parks Board in Singapore, and Hong Kong Wetland Park of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department.
Highlights of the programme include sharing of students' study results on rubbish problem, biodiversity investigation, water quality for tourist attraction, adaptation of exotic species, as well as research on development of an education trail. Students conducted their research or information collection for at lease 3 months from summer 2008.
The Sister Wetland Affiliation Programme included exchange visit between schools and wetland parks / reserve in Hong Kong and Singapore, in November 2008 and February 2009 respectively. Regarding the Hong Kong visit from 25 to 27 November, students conducted their sharing and exhibit of study result in Hong Kong Wetland Park, followed by visit to Mai Po Nature Reserve and partnership schools in Hong Kong.
