Summary
Stream Life - the Smarts in Running Water
Streams not only provide us with freshwater, but also homes to a host of plants and animals. Our interpreters will describe characteristics of a stream from upper course to lower course, and explain how wildlife adapts to the stream environment.
Take a Closer Look to Pond Life
Are you interested in pond life? Some of them are too tiny to be seen. Our interpreters will make use of photos and live animals to introduce various small aquatic animals and their habitats to you.
Mangrove - the Tough Survivors of Intertidal Zone
High salinity, oxygen deficiency and unstable substratum are some major problems that plants in inter-tidal zone need to confront. In order to flourish in such an environment for providing shelters to a variety of animals, mangroves have strategies to survive. Adaptations of mangrove plants and their ecological values will be elaborated in this session.
Aquatic Plants - the Humble Suppliers
People have learnt how to use aquatic plants (e.g. vegetable and crops) as food for centuries. Our interpreters will introduce some examples of aquatic plants that are of use in our daily lives and their ecological importance in the habitat.|
