About the Park

1. How long will it take for a Hong Kong Wetland Park visit?

   A walk around the whole park usually takes 4 hours to a whole day, please take a look at our "Plan Your Trip" section for route suggestions.

2. What are the opening hours of the Ticket Office?

   The Ticket Office opens everyday from 9:30am to 4:00pm. It is closed every Tuesday (except Public Holidays).

3. Will the Hong Kong Wetland Park be closed under inclement weather conditions?

   Normally, the Park will remain open during our opening hours, except the following conditions:

   1. Typhoon Signal No.8 or above is hoisted;
   2. Black Rainstorm Warning is issued.
   3. The Park will try the best to resume normal operation 2 hours after Typhoon signal/black rain storm signal is lowered/cancelled. Where Red Rain Storm signal is issued, the Outdoor Area will be closed temporarily and all outdoor educational activities/guided tours will be suspended but the visitor centre will remain open and those indoor activities will continue as normal. The outdoor areas and outdoor activities will resume normal when the Red Rain Storm Signal is cancelled.

4. How can I obtain more information on the Hong Kong Wetland Park?

   Besides email and fax, you may come to the Park directly to obtain the relevant information. Our address is: Hong Kong Wetland Park, Wetland Park Road, Tin Shui Wai, N.T., Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Tourism Board in Central or the Visitor Information & Services Center in Tsim Sha Tsui also have information about the Hong Kong Wetland Park.

5. Are there any Cloak Room for visitor?

   We provide Cloak Room service.

6. What is the lost and found arrangement in the Park?

   If you have any Lost & Found enquiry, please inform our staff at the Information Counter.

7. Can disabled people use facilities inside the Park?

   All galleries and most outdoor areas are accessible by wheelchair users, and our staff is willing to help our visitors in case of need.

8. Can I borrow a wheelchair from the Park?

   Sorry, our wheelchairs are reserved for emergency needs only.

9. Is smoking allowed at Hong Kong Wetland Park?
   
   With effective from 1 Jan 2007, Hong Kong Wetland Park has become a statutory smoke-free area in accordance with "The Smoking (Public Health)(Amendment) Ordinance 2006". Smoking is not allowed inside the park.

10. Where can I see Pui Pui?

    Pui Pui has moved to her new home, "Pui Pui's Home".

    Visitors are advised to watch Pui Pui quietly without causing undue disturbance, such as knocking at the glass panels.

11. Can I feed wild animals in the Park?

    Wild animals can take care of themselves, please do not feed them.

12. What kinds of wild animals can be found in Hong Kong Wetland Park?

    Up until the end of 2006, we have recorded over 200 species of birds, 40 species of dragonflies, 130 species of butterflies, 18 species of fishes, 9 species of amphibians, 13 species of reptiles and 10 species of mammals in the Park.

13. When will be the best time for bird-watching?

    October to April of the following year is the bird-watching season in Hong Kong.

14. May I bring my pets with me to visit Hong Kong Wetland Park?

    To minimize the disturbance to wildlife, please do not bring your pets to the Hong Kong Wetland Park.

15. Are there any catering service at Hong Kong Wetland Park?

    There is a café that sells food and beverages inside the Visitor Centre, and there are vending machines at the Ticket Office, Discovery Centre and Café that sell beverages. Visitors may also bring their own drinking water.

16. Is eating allowed inside the Park?

    Eating is not allowed inside the galleries of the Visitor Centre (except Atrium, Café and Viewing Gallery).




About Ticketing

General

17. What kind of payments are accepted for admission fees?

    Besides cash, we also accept cheques issued by groups, made payable to "The Hong Kong SAR Government". We don't accept personal cheques or post-dated cheques.

18. Do disabled people get a discount?

    We do not provide discount to individuals, because the affordability of various socio-economic groups have already been taken into consideration back when the entrance fee was fixed.

19. Is there any restriction on the number of simultaneous visitors? What is daily capacity of the Park?

    In order to keep the conditions of the indoor areas nice and comfortable, the maximum capacity of the Visitor Centre is set to be 4,000 person at any one time. If the number of visitor exceeds 3,500, the Park will employ visitor control measures such as temporary closure of some of the galleries or suspension of the ticket sale.

20. Can I know if tickets are still available?

    In case the visitor count has reached a certain threshold (e.g. 3,500 visitors inside the Visitor Centre), the Park will make announcements via the Light Rail, West Rail and the mass media.

21. With a single day pass, can I leave the park and re-enter on the same day?

    Yes, visitors can get their hand stamped at the information counter before they leave, and they will be allowed to re-enter the park with the presence of the hand stamp and that particular pass.

22. Do non-profit-making groups get a discount or waiver on the entrance fee?

    The ticket price and discounts for non-profit making groups is the same as all other group categories.

Online Group Booking

23. Must groups book in advance?

    Groups of 10 persons or more planning to visit the Park on Sunday or public holiday should book their tickets online or by fax (see below). Groups can also book online for visits on other days. For individuals or unregistered groups, please purchase tickets at the Ticket Office on the day of visit.

24. How do I book group tickets?

    We accept online booking of group tickets 7 days to 3 months before the visiting date. Please click here for details.

25. Can the time or date of an online group booking application be changed after submission?

    If you wish to cancel/change the date of an approved online group booking application, please inform us by fax or email at least 2 days before the original date of visit. It would help us to release the quota to other interested parties.

26. When do I make the payment after booking the tickets online?

    After a successful online ticket booking, please bring the letter of approval and settle the payment at the Ticket Office on the date of visit.

27. If I have booked 100 tickets online but it turns out to be more people (105 persons), will the extra persons enjoy group discount?

    Yes, provided that all tickets are purchased in one transaction.

28. When all group tickets for online sale have been sold out, can I still buy single/group tickets at the Park on the day of visit?

    For visits on days other than Sundays or public holidays, groups may purchase tickets at the Ticket Office on the day. For visits on Sundays or public holidays, groups should book their tickets by fax (see below). If there are too many visitors, the Park might suspend the sale of tickets.

Fax Booking

29. Can I book tickets by fax?

    Fax booking is only required for groups that wish to visit HKWP on Sundays and Public Holidays. Groups visiting the Park on weekdays and Saturdays can purchase tickets at the Ticket Office on the day of visit. Please click here for details.

30. If I fail to reserve tickets through online or fax group booking application, will I be able to visit the Park on Sundays?

    Apart from the group visitors who have successfully reserved tickets, there will not be any group tickets for sale. The Park will reserve certain tickets for sale to individual visitors who can purchase up to 9 tickets at a time per person.

31. How do I know whether group booking quota is full?

    You can visit Hong Kong Wetland Park website www.wetlandpark.com to get most updated information about online and fax group booking application status.

Individual Online Booking

32. How many tickets can be reserved through the Individual Online booking system?

    Individuals may book 1-9 tickets online. For 10 or more tickets, please refer to Group Booking.

33. When can an individual book tickets in advance?

    Individual Online Booking is available between 7 days and 3 months prior to the scheduled date of visit. For example, on 1 July, one may book tickets from 7 July to 30 September.

34. How can I check the status of my booking?

    The result of booking will be notified by e-mail or fax to the applicant within 3 working days after receiving the application. If you do not receive such notification after 3 working days, your application should be regarded as unsuccessful. If you wish to check your application status, please email booking@wetlandpark.com with your booking reference number.

35. How can I pay and collect tickets after booking online?

    Upon acceptance of booking, HKWP will issue Demand Note to applicant for full payment of admission fees. Payment should be settled within three (3) working days after issuance of acceptance (payment can be made in person at post office or through bank automated teller machine, etc). Applicant should present the Demand Note and original payment record upon collection of tickets at Ticket Office on the day of visit.

36. Can I change the visit date or number of tickets after booking?

    No.

37. If I cannot turn up on the scheduled date, can I ask for refund?

    No refund will be entertained if the park is open or the tickets have been collected at any point of the day.

38. Under what conditions can I ask for a refund?

    If the booked tickets cannot be collected due to closure of park under inclement weather conditions, refund can be arranged by writing to the Ticketing Unit of HKWP.

Annual Pass

39. How do I apply for annual/semi-annual/family passes?

    Please click here to download the application form, and return the form in person, by mail, or by fax (26174230) to the Ticket Office. For application by fax or post, the applicant would receive a letter within 3 working days, and the applicant will need to pickup the annual passes and pay the required amount within a specified period. If the applicant(s) is/are unavailable during the pickup period, please show the authorization letter from the applicants, the notification letter and the ID card copy/copies of the applicant(s) for verification.

40. Can I submit an annual/semi-annual pass application in person and use the pass immediately?

    Quota of 100 passes is available on a first-come-first-served basis to applications submitted in person for same-day collection. In the case the quota is full and the application cannot be processed on the same day, applicant visiting the park on the day will need to purchase a single-entry ticket.

41. Can the members of a family pass be composed of a pair of couple and their parents? Can the family pass holders enter the Park separately?

    The family annual pass consists of a set of not more than 4 passes for family members with kinship regardless of their age. Each family member will have their own ticket so there is no need for all members to enter the park at the same time.

42. Concerning the application of the family annual pass, can children above the age of 18 be included in the family?

    Yes, children above the age of 18 can be included.

43. Will the passes still be valid if collected after the period stated in the confirmation letter?

    Passes should be collected within the period stated in the confirmation letter (approximately one month after the issue of letter). Otherwise, a new application would need to be submitted.

44. Can a pass be replaced if it is lost?

    No, a pass cannot be replaced. One would need to apply for a new pass.

46. Do you organise tours for schools, community service or charity organisations?

    Schools, community service or charity organisation can apply for the following guided tours:

47. Does the guide tour charge a fee?

About Parking Facilities

48. Can coaches be parked in the carpark?

    The roundabout inside the park is for pickup/drop-off only. We have a designated coach parking site that can accommodate several coaches available on a first-come-first-served basis.

49. Is there a carpark in the Park? How much does it cost to park?

    In order to reserve more space for wetland conservation purposes, we can only provide a limited number of parking spaces. We hope that visitors would use public transportations to come to the Park. The Parking fee for private cars is $8 per hour.

50. Where can I park my car if the carpark is full?

    If our carpark is full, please use the public carparks at the housing estates nearby.




Others

51. If a travel agency staff wants to enter the Park for a site visit or to lead a tour, does he/she need to buy a ticket or present some proof of identity (e.g. business card)?

    Waiver of admission fee to the Hong Kong Wetland Park would be granted to tourist guide who:

    1. is holder of valid Tourist Guide Pass issued by Hong Kong Travel Industry Council (TIC)    AND
    2. is accompanying a tour group visiting Hong Kong Wetland Park on the day.

    The tourist guide who wishes to enjoy this wavier should present his valid TIC Tourist Guide Pass when entering the entry gate at Visitor Centre of the Park.
