Kick-off Ceremony for World Wetlands Day Activities

To launch the celebration activities of the World Wetlands Day 2008, the Hong Kong Wetland Park has appointed the internationally renowned actor, Chow Yun-fat, as the "Wetland Conservation Ambassador" to help convey the message of wetland conservation to the public.

The Director of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation, Miss Cheung Siu-hing, JP, joined Mr Chow to officiate at the launch ceremony held at the Viewing Gallery, Hong Kong Wetland Park, Wetland Park Road, Tin Shui Wai, at 10.30am on Saturday (20 October 2007).

Apart from "Drawing for Wetland Conservation" Competition hold at the same day, other activities include "Wetlands in My Eyes" Writing Competition, "Vibrant Wetlands" Papercutting Workshop, Wetland Model Creation Activity & Workshop, The 8th "Inter-school Bird Race" and The 2nd Storytelling Competition on "Healthy Wetlands, Healthy People".

The "World Wetlands Day 2008 Hong Kong Celebration Ceremony and Fun Fair" will be held on 2 February 2008. Apart from the prize presentation ceremony, there will also be a fun fair at the grassland near the entrance. Besides, "The Song of Nature Inter-school Music Contest" will also be held in the afternoon on that day.
