World Wetlands Day 2010 Hong Kong Celebration Ceremony
|
"World Wetlands Day" was created to commemorate 2 February 1971, when countries gathered in Ramsar, Iran to sign the "Ramsar Convention". Every year on the 2 February, contracting parties have held a series of educational activities to promote the importance of protecting wetlands.
The theme of World Wetlands Day 2010 is designated as "Wetlands, Biodiversity and Climate Change". The purpose is to allow the public to learn more about wetlands and threats of the climate change brought to wetlands, to heighten the world's concern towards wetlands, and to respond to climate change by taking action.
Hong Kong Wetland Park will organise "World Wetlands Day 2010 Hong Kong Celebration Ceremony" on 6 February 2010, to promote the theme of "World Wetlands Day 2010" and to present prizes to competition winners and volunteers, hoping to encourage everyone to keep up with their efforts on wetlands conservation.
